My Honest Experience - Ellis Con 2017

This year, for the second year in a row, I was able to participate in a small gaming convention that is very local to me. Now, it's not a big time one, and you might not hear about it unless you're in the area, but this event is amazing and packs one hell of a punch for the size of it.

Each fall, Ellis Con takes place at Ellis Tech, a technical high school tucked away in Danielson, Connecticut, and it brings you a little bit of everything for any type of gamer. It hosts video game tournaments run by a local retro store, there are vendors that focus on tabletop card games, and all throughout the day, there are constant sessions going on over countless tables featuring dozens of new and old tabletop figurine games. Warhammer, Star Wars, and so many more that I couldn't remember the names of because I was too busy soaking it all in. No matter how you like to play, whether it's a controller in your hand, cards in a sleeve, or an army of model creatures that you have painstakingly built and painted yourself, there's guaranteed to be something at Ellis Con for you.

What's most incredible about this event though is the auction it holds every year. It takes place in the school's cafeteria, and this is where you get to see some really cool stuff. Old video games, some new ones, and tons of tabletop and board game items as well. Even if you're not looking to buy something for yourself, just letting your eyes fall across these items is a gift enough.

Between last year and this year, I have seen so many items that I hadn't previously been aware even existed.

You'll see a lot of common games as well, but you just might see some more rare variants than just plain old Monopoly or Yahtzee.

Again, this event caters to every and any type of gamer, so if you ever happen to be in the area when it's going down, definitely swing on by. Throwdown in the Smash Bro's tournament, feast on the sights of everything in the auction, or wander along the tables for the Warhammer, X-Wing, and other tabletop games. You're guaranteed to have a great time no matter where you end up.
